“My mom had a hunch I was going to do something musical. So she named me Remy. Something artistic.”

Remy Garrison was born to be a singer. Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, she had a natural gift for music from an early age that stunned everyone around her. “I’d hear music on the radio or TV, I’d hear it once or twice, and then I’d just know it,” she explains, “It was instinctive.”

Coming from a nurturing home, her family was quick to rally round her and put her talents in front of people who needed to hear them. “My dad is a songwriter because of me,” she laughs, “He’s a lawyer, but he started writing to help get me in co-writes in Nashville.”

A relative newcomer to music city, she quickly started dazzling industry veterans with her intense commitment to craft and process. “I came in to my first co-write with a melody, and a chorus, and I knew how I wanted it to go. The people I was working with were surprised I came in with so much.’” she explains, “So I’ve done it in every write since then. I’m never unprepared.” Her tenacity has those in the know on the edge of their seats waiting for her upcoming single drop. But for those coming in fresh, what can they expect from this Southern firecracker? “I’m a little bit of everything,” says Remy, “I have a song for every mood. Love songs, feel good songs, songs that’ll make you cry, songs that’ll make you wanna go and slash your ex’s tires... Not that you should do that.” Drawing from a range of influences encompassing everyone from Aretha Franklin to Lizzo, Remy defines her sound loosely. “I do write towards pop country, but one song can be more country, one song can be more pop, one song can be a bit more rock,” she clarifies, “I just write about life. The song is whatever it is meant to be.”

Remy’s empathy as a human being is quickly becoming a cornerstone of her brand as an artist, her effusive positivity easily winning people over to her troupe. “You were born uniquely you, you should love yourself.” she explains jovially, adding “I want people to feel like they’re having fun with what I’m doing. I want them to feel represented in me and my songs.”

When it comes to representation, Remy is already mindful of what that means to her. Even at this relatively early point in her career she is planning for an empowered future. “I love girl power. And I don’t feel like women get recognized enough in our industry,” she says, matter-of-factly, “So when I made my team, I made a girl team.” With a majority female cabal around her, she is beginning as she means to continue, by amplifying and empowering the women in her orbit.

“I realized early on that music was something I was good at, and something I was passionate about,” Remy states. With a single-drop imminent, and sights set on national tours, Remy Garrison is setting the stage for a career that will span a lifetime. “There’s nothing else I’d rather do in my life,” she says plainly. With her trademark mix of vivacity, raw musical talent, and infectious joi de vivre, it seems like there are no places this girl can’t go. “I will sing until I am 80. It’s magical.”
